 The history of Haceteppe University is inextricably linked to the Institute of Child Health and its creation on July 8, 1958. The activities of this institute set off a chain of reactions that would later culminate in the establishment of several academic schools of sciences. These schools subsequently coalesced to form Haceteppe University. The university was chartered on July 8, 1967, beginning a journey of rapid growth that has engendered the colossus that is this university today.

 Haceteppe University is the 532nd best university in the world according to the U.S News & World Report’s The Best Global University Ranking 2019. She currently occupies the 501st spot on the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, while University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) rates her as the 534th best in the world and best university in Turkey.

In the Asian region, Haceteppe University is ranked 116th by Times Higher Education, while US News places her on the 86th spot.

It is in the field of medicine that this university truly excels. Her faculty of medicine is peerless in Turkey, and have for the past decade maintained their stranglehold on the top spot among state universities. This achievement has spurred them on, and recently, Haceteppe University’s medical faculty has begun to earn International acclaim.



 Haceteppe university boasts two campuses in Ankara. The main campus is situated right in the heart of the ancient, magical city that is Ankara. The sprawling charm of the city backdrops the university, constructing a view that can only be described as picturesque. The second campus is sited in a serene area at Beytepe.

The university also boasts three other campuses apart from these: Beşevler Campus, Bala Campus and Polatlı Campus.



The main campus plays home to the medical school and the faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Oncology, Neurological sciences, Home Economics, Health Technology, Health Sciences, and a host of others. It also accommodates several institutes, Teaching Hospitals, a biomedical library, biomedical research units and student dormitories.



The second campus sits on 6,000,000 m2 of majestic green land and woodland, 13km away from the city centre, in Beytepe. The faculties of Law, Education, Engineering, Science, Fine Arts, Letters and Economic and Administrative Sciences are domiciled here.



 With almost 50,000 students- a healthy percentage of them are foreign- engaged in one academic pursuit or another within her walls, this university is a veritable melting pot. This university is stridently vocal in their support of cultural diversity and is a strong proponent of the values of interracial cooperation.


73% of students are pursuing undergraduate degrees, while 27% are postgraduate students. International students make up 4% of the number.

In addition to the above, Haceteppe University boasts fourteen graduate schools and institutes, six vocational schools, two applied schools,104 research and application centres and one conservatory.


 Tuition is paid before the commencement of academic sessions and varies from department to department, so students are advised to always verify this information at the relevant quarters.  However, the average tuition for undergraduate students is TL 6,819.

For international students who wish to bag a degree at this institute, the tuition fee is $1,000 per year (an academic year is made up of two semesters). The same rate is charged for postgraduate studies.


 Haceteppe University offers admission to about 70% of applicants each year, which will come as music to your ears if you’re considering applying to this institution. International students are to apply online with the following documents for undergraduate admission:


Secondary Education Certificate/High School Diploma and its translation by a sworn translator in case it is in a language other than English or Turkish.

  • Exam Scores: SAT, ACT or TQDK scores. Applicants who apply with SAT scores should endeavour to send their official score report to the university by ETS.
  • Sealed High School Transcript and its translation by a sworn translator in case it is in a language other than English or Turkish.
  • Photograph of passport page that contains the applicant’s photo.
  • A digital passport-sized photograph to be uploaded.

For postgraduate students, the following documents are to be provided:

  • Online application
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Official transcript
  • GRE-600 or the GMAT-500 scores
  • TOMER certificate 70 points
  • TOEFL/IELTS scores for applicants who do not speak English.

Successful applicants will be sent an acceptance letter by the University upon request.


 Online Application Dates: 1st to 26th June 2020.

Announcement of shortlisted candidates: 17th July 2020.

Interview dates: 21st to 24th July 2020.

Announcement of results: 29th July 2020.

Registration dates: 31st August to 4th September 2020.

 The cost of living in Ankara is moderately high. On average, you’ll likely spend 25,000 Turkish liras per year, about $3,666.

Of course, depending on the individual, this number may be higher or lower.


 You won’t encounter any difficulty pertaining to accommodation as the university assigns you to a dormitory on request. Prices of these dormitories range between 205 to 319 which is about $115 to 170. You can also choose from a wide range of guest houses, private dormitories and student houses.
